Having already conquered the Billboard albums chart, the fashion world and Israel's obscenity laws, Lady Gaga has reportedly set her sights on dominating the buttoned-up world of adult contemporary. She's written songs with none other than Michael Bolton.
In an interview with London's Metro newspaper, the 56-year-old Bolton — best known for his (formerly} flowing locks and husky takes on songs like "When a Man Loves a Woman" and "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" — said he has been working with Gaga on his upcoming album, One World One Love.
The collaboration actually happened before Gaga went supernova — and it was apparently all her idea.
"I was taking a break from production when my manager and the label tag-teamed me on the phone about writing with a young artist named Lady Gaga who I had never heard of — but they were raving about," Bolton told the paper. "They said that she was a huge fan of mine and wanted to write with me. No one I knew had heard of her ... but less than a minute into 'Just Dance,' I thought, 'This CD is gonna be huge!' "
So Bolton agreed to work with Gaga, and when the two finally met, he was taken by her energy and commitment ... and realized right away that she was destined for greatness.
"When I met her in the studio later that night, I realized she was not only about to have a big hit record, but Gaga was a superstar about to launch. ... Her energy was so high and her focus excited me," Bolton continued. "She reminded me of a young Madonna, with more exuberance and emphasis on the art rather than the marketing."
The Metro article does not mention the name of the song or songs that Gaga and Bolton collaborated on, but over the weekend, a track called "Murder My Heart" leaked, and apparently it's the fruit of the duo's labor (it's definitely Bolton, and we think we hear Gaga on the backing track). Attempting to verify that fact, MTV News reached out to reps for both artists, but at press time, we had yet to receive a response. According to Bolton's Web site, One World One Love is due September 21.

Whether you like Perez Hilton or not, he is one of the most important bloggers on the planet. Record companies use him for promotion and entertainment programs are in line to get an interview with him.
His taste in music is usually good. Unfortunately, he is also partially responsible for the rise (and soon to fall) of the most talentless musical act in the planet. Lady Gaga.
Every day, there is a new post about this disco tart. Just yesterday, there were posts about Gaga and Michael Bolton and Gaga's awful poses for V Magazine. Why is Perez pushing this freak on us?
We all have the choice not to read Perez Hilton's site. Like caffeine, however, it is too addicting. Her personal style is famously eccentric - but Lady GaGa's latest photo shoot is probably her most outrageous to date, but this time, because of what she's NOT wearing.
Sporting nothing but a fluffy pink wig and copious amounts of fake tan, the singer flaunted an enviable figure for legendary fashion photographer Mario Testino.
The series of images, which appear in the latest issue of U.S. magazine V, push the boundaries of acceptability, and like many of her ensembles, are unlikely to appeal to everyone's tastes.

Now here's a real head-scratcher.
The British edition of Marie Claire reports that "Poker Face" songbird Lady GaGa is collaborating with legendary crooner Michael Bolton for his upcoming album, One World One Love—and it was GaGa's idea to work together!
"I was taking a break from production when my manager and the label tag-teamed me on the phone about writing with a young artist named Lady GaGa who I had never heard of —but they were raving about—they said that she was a huge fan of mine and wanted to write with me," Bolton says.
The admiration quickly became mutual when Bolton met up with the Pantsless One in the studio.
"When I met her in the studio later that night, I realized she was not only about to have a big hit record but GaGa was a superstar about to launch—her energy was so high and her focus excited me," Bolton recalls. "She reminded me of a young Madonna—with more exuberance and emphasis on the art rather than the marketing."
Bolton also penned material with Ne-Yo for the album.
Can someone please tell us what is going on here?
One World One Love will be released in the UK on September 21. In the meantime, share your thoughts in the comments section: Is a Michael Bolton/Lady GaGa collaboration a recipe for disaster, or musical bliss?

That’s because she’s been asked to bare it all for an upcoming PETA ad campaign, following in the footsteps of celebs like Eva Mendes, Christy Turlington and Pamela Anderson who have declared they’d “Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur.”
According to a spokesperson for PETA, the animal-rights organization approached Gaga about posing for the iconic campaign after she appeared in a rather unique Kermit the Frog outfit last month in Germany. It was a look so out there that it made waves on gossip sites and drove radio host Ryan Seacrest to ask the pop star just she was hoping to accomplish with the getup.
“I really loved [it],” Gaga responded. “Because I thought it was [a] commentary on not wearing fur. I hate fur, and I don’t wear fur.”
That answer inspired PETA chief Dan Mathews to pitch the idea to Gaga, and according to a spokesperson, they hope to shoot her covering herself up with just a few playing cards, a nod to her hit “Poker Face” (which, incidentally, earned Gaga four of her nine nominations at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards).
PETA’s spokesperson told MTV News that they are still waiting to hear back from Gaga about posing for the campaign. At press time, a spokesperson for the singer had not responded to MTV News’ request for comment.
The singer-songwriter born Stefani Germanotta joins just two prior artists in accomplishing the triumphant triple play.
The other artists who have achieved were Avril Lavigne in 2002 and Ace of Base in 1994.
Only at GagafansiteThe performance bill for the 2009 Video Music Awards continues to grow with A-list stars committing to the show. Today, three more live acts were announced for the show, which airs live from New York City's Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, September 13. On that day, MTV.com will premiere Death Cab for Cutie's "Meet Me On The Equinox," the first single off the upcoming soundtrack to new moon" Wale was also added to the VMA bill. He'll serve as the head of the house band, picking up where Travis Barker and DJ AM did last year. But the really big news is that Beyoncé, who has nine nominations at this year's show, will perform her newest single, Sweet Dreams on stage at Radio City Music Hall. Her appearance at the show sets up an interesting dynamic between her and Lady Gaga, another subscriber to the sort of costume-heavy futurist pop that Beyoncé so adores. Certainly Beyoncé has the experience, but Gaga — who also has nine nominations — has a knack for stealing shows.
We could debate this in the MTV Newsroom all day, but we wanted to know what the public thought. So we took a trip downstairs and pointed our MTV News cameras at some fans in Times Square to ask them whether Beyoncé or Lady Gaga would have the better performance at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
The fantastically unscientific results have come back in favor of Beyoncé. In fact, 69 percent of those people we asked sided with Ms. Knowles, citing her experience, her style and her performance ability.
What do you think: Will Beyoncé get the crowd to put its hands up, or will they be more mesmerized by Lady Gaga's "Poker Face"? Leave your thoughts in the comments or head over to Your.MTV.com to make your voice heard!
